To enter: Simply leave a comment to THIS specific post by telling me if you have ever altered a baby snapsuit or if you have babies on the way! :)
Your comment MUST link to your particular blog or web site or include your e-mail address. Otherwise, I won't be able to get in touch with you if you win! Any entries that do not include
some way of getting in touch will be disqualified.
Deadline: Comments must be received by midnight EST April 6th, 2010.
Odds of winning will depend on the number of eligible entries received.

No I haven't altered a snap suit and I don't have any babies on the way, but, I do have a 21 month old son and I have bought some iron on transfer paper I just haven't used it yet!!

I used to paint on snap suits for friends, but haven't done any since having my own 2 kids. My 13 month old now wears a size 2T, so I'm hoping to use some of the ideas for t-shirts and make the snap suits for gifts.

The book looks great - not to mention the crafty loot. I have altered a onesie or two in my time. I've tried tie dying to cover stains. It didn't work out too well. I've also made a necktie and fish applique for other onesies. It's fun and the little ones will wear whatever you put on them - so the sky is the limit.

yes, i am the queen of altered onesies! i tie dye them, iron on homemade and store bought appliques and have even cut them off at the waist (bottom) and added a skirt or ruffle or two. whoopee! your book will definitely provide lots more inspiration for all those gifts and grandchildren in my future. thanks cathie! p.s. love "creative juice" - watched it this a.m.

SUPER PRIZE! I just altered a onsie for my 8 month old and a tshirt for my 1 1/2 year old for them to wear on easter.. its kind of like your "junior prom" one... I put a bowtie, dress shirt ruffles, and buttons on the little one, and a regular tie applique and dress shirt ruffles on the bigger one. I used red bandana fabric (because I had some scraps to use up) so I call them the "redneck dress shirts"

I have altered a snapsuit. For my daughters baby shower she got alot of plain pink things, and the crafter I am I wanted to spruce them up. I added appliqued fabric...animals, crowns...(I traced the copies from coloring books).. and wah-lah she wasn't so "plain" anymore.

No babies on the horizon, but I once did a baby shower "game" where everyone got a snapsuit and was responsible for decorating it. We then gave them to the mom-to-be at the baby shower and she chose her favorite (who won a prize!). I tie-dyed mine... it didn't win.

For my baby shower each person got a white onesie and decorated it with fabric markers and paints. it was wonderful! Not only was it like an extra gift from everyone, but I'm still using them all and I'm on baby #3!

ReplyDeleteWhile I am not expecting a baby myself, my cousin is pregnant with twin girls and ready to pop them out any second, and a friend is pregnant with twin boys and currently working hard to keep them in. April is likely going to be a busy birthday month in years to come!

For my baby shower in March 2009, my friend used fabric markers to decorate onsies for my little one. It was cool because they were all different sizes so the baby can still wear some of them now.

I have a nephew on the way. His mom sold all of her baby stuff years ago and needs to restock. I'm his only crafty Aunt and could sure use this prize pack because I'm pretty sure my nephew is going to be delivered without any clothes!
ReplyDeleteI have altered snapsuits before and as a matter of fact I have an entire pack of them waiting to be doctored up! In need of some good ideas first. ;) I am also expecting my second baby, due in July - gender a surprise!

I have altered some onsies, adding appliques and ruffles. It was so cute, all the ideas in your book look fantastic. I still have lots of little ones on the way this summer and still have lots of onsies lying around.

Yes, I've altered a snapsuit. I did an iron-on transfer that said, "My dadda plays bass in the band" and the another one that said, "Band Roadie." I made a matching t-shirt for myself, too.

I have altered snapsuits many times. My fav was at a baby shower and we had everyone decorate one for the new mom as a gift. Everyone had a great time doing it and the mom enjoyed getting to keep them as a remembrance item. I also have a new niece on the way in July. My sister and I both love to create and are looking forward to having another little girl to design for.

One of my best friends got his wife knocked up. As a baby shower activity, a lot of us "designed" snapsuits with stamps and free hand "art". I actually got the privilege of seeing my wee nephew all decked out in the suit I'd painted!

ReplyDeleteMy four month old came into this world as a ten pound chunk. Now he's a 22 1/2 pound chunk. I love making things for him! He grows so fast it's cheaper if I can do it myself!
